The goal of the NodeBrain Open Source Project is to develop a small, flexible, reliable, and free rule engine that can be used as a component in monitoring applications. Consequently the rule engine is packaged as a component, not an application.

To simplify the task of developing applications and illustrate possiblities for using NodeBrain, the project is developing a set of kits that provide a framework for NodeBrain based applications. These kits are managed and released as separate optional packages.
